build a dragstrip on the east/southeast side of town to create new ecomonic growth
Having a racing facility here would bring in huge amounts of dollars for our city, just as the ballpark as! And it wouldn't cost near as much as the ballpark did to build! We have a lot of things in this area, but nothing like this! As our Governor said once,...Indiana,restart your engines! Not all of Fort Wayne residents are into stick and ball sports! Don't we ALL count? Shouldn't there be something for everyone in our city? VOTE FOR THIS!!

Start the Fort Wayne end of the High Speed Rail system to Chicago
A High Speed Rail system running between Fort Wayne and Chicago with possible connections between other cities in the Midwest would be an excellent use of these funds. Having High Speed rail would bring in more opportunities for the community to live and raise a family in wonderful small city Fort Wayne while allowing people the business and educational opportunities that Chicago offers. Navistar employees who are considering moving to Chicago for employment would greatly benefit from the opportunity to stay located in the Fort without disrupting their community and family lives. Tax breaks could be offered for those wanting… more

Seed money to build Headwaters Junction rail attraction on the old OmniSource land.
Turn the former OmniSource property on 4th into the proposed Headwaters Junction attraction. The site would bring in tourism to the city, along with tax dollars.
The goal is to create a vibrant, colorful attraction on part of North River that is equal parts city park, year round tourist attraction, walkable urban core, family destination, light rail system connecting area points of interest, and cultural gateway to the city that transforms the property into a sustainable and inviting public space for recreational, social, artistic and commercial activities in a way that embraces our culture and history.

Rebuild our aging sewer system.
I thought our sewer system was in dire need of complete upgrade. Remember the sinkholes last summer? I think that's pretty important for our future.

Build a facility dedicated to the sport of Curling
The recently re-established Fort Wayne Curling Club has generated a lot of interest in town, with over 80 members so far and lots of additional interest. Building a facility dedicated to Curling will provide additional opportunities for Fort Wayne citizens to participate in this sport that is built on the central precept of sportsmanship.

Advocate/Secure Downtown Amtrak
If we are able to secure a commitment for Amtrak. We sould rehab/expand Baker Street Station and surrounding area. A large modern canopy over the potential future platforms with adjacent offices/retail

Education
This city needs better a education system and more funding for that education. Students need good teachers, good supplies, and good schools to become great citizens. Right now the school systems are horrible. I've never seen them this bad. We have over $75 million to spend on this city. Budget cuts have been hitting schools hard. South Side doesn't even have tissues to offer to students anymore. And the language department alone only gets $1000 per year. That's ridiculous. Please let's help the people who will one day be running this city: the students.

Save a portion through endowment and make money off the interest.
Use of the interest money could be designated for certain use but more than anything it would ensure the legacy of our community to live on.

Calhoun Street Renovation Project
There is serious economic/community improvement on Calhoun Street, just south of downtown Fort Wayne. Funds should be allocated to continue improvement, similar to the funds used for the Wells Street & East State Village renovations.

Subsidize a Downtown Live/Work Space for Artists
Grand Rapids, MI, a comparable, yet, more economically successful and vibrant city than Fort Wayne, subsidizes lofted live/work space for artists in a downtown arts district. In exchange for affordable rates, the artists open their live/work spaces to the public about once a month for shows, educational workshops, etc. The district coordinates these events that bring in large crowds not only to the artists' shops, publicizing their work, but also to the local bars and restaurants. Studios and bars are often filled with crowds, live music and energetic creative people during these year round events.
